Email autoresponder writing

Many companies and non-profits now rely on email marketing to influence and keep in touch with their database of prospects. Even with the spam monkeys putting emails in a poor light, there are still things you can do to ensure YOUR emails get read.

  1. Hire an experienced copywriter to write email autoresponder series. Jennifer has had experience with writing marketing emails both from scratch and with the templates that Infusionsoft provide.
  2. Ensure your email marketing system has tools to allow better open rates (i.e. email previewers and spam checkers).
  3. Remind people (after sign-up) to whitelist your email address. And put your full name/company in the from line.
  4. Use a double opt-in signup system, within a fully automated system.
  5. If you have an offer, sandwich it between some valuable information – especially when they are new to the list.
  6. Copywriter or Editor to write the subject line – a compelling subject will help open rates.
  7. Segregate lists – tools like Infusionsoft or Aweber or Email Marketer help to create varied lists so that you can email the direct interests of people who signed up. Never mix up lists.
  8. Don’t be tempted to purchase lists from unknown sources.
  9. Use a text or web version as an alternative if recipients cannot read the HTML version. Also provide some text captions if the HTML has graphics – often blocked by email readers.
  10. Add your Company name, address and phone number. This ensures compliance with SPAM Acts and also, incredibly, it ensures people can contact you.
